Unwanted Heroes

By I.M. Ulysses

They are unwanted
Those heroes of old
Who stood for what's right
In stories untold

Gone into legend
In the ashes of time
The brave and the good
Are no longer designed

The sheep feed the wolves
With their very own skin
While the people look on
At the horror there in

The bad man roars
And the good man trembles
As the thief looks on
And laughs in the shambles

Evil has triumphed
Because good was too scared
To stand up and fight
A foe unprepared

Please go away
Let Egypt still rule
We'd rather be slaves
Than be freed by you

Stir not the dust
That covers our heads
Leave us in peace
Lest we face more dread

Away to the wind
He staggers in pain
With a heart full of love
For those who remain

It is all over
They're all the same
The weak and the strong
The bold and the lame

I cannot help them
My time is now past
When one took a stand
And held on to it fast

A new generation
Of fear has arisen
Who'd rather surrender
Than to my words listen

I was once taught
That courage made right
That a real man stood tall
Against evil's might

So I believed
And still I do hope
That one day again
A hero will show

To protect the weak
And bring down God's thunder
Upon all the wicked
And those that they plunder

Until then I walk
In this world alone
Broken inside
A man now unknown

Unwanted and cast
From ages untold
The hero moves on
From the pages of old

Dedicated to the fearful, who let evil triumph, because they
choose to remain silent.
