God's way
God’s Way
By I.M. Ulysses
What is man
That he should feel
A solemn touch
Of God who’s real
For he was born
To take a stand
And not bow down
At fools' command
To let hope rise
Within his breast
And rend his heart
His soul to test
For life does not
Come with restraint
For those who strive
While others faint
It must be grasped
With faith and power
That comes from God
In their dark hour
Such it is
For all mankind
Who seek a path
That’s not defined
Not to their own
Do they consult
But unto Whom
Angels exalt
To Him they come
Both great and small
From tribe and tongue
And before Him fall
So who is man
That he should boast
Of what he does
And all his host
The road’s not his
Nor is his course
It’s set by God
Who is the source
All this I know
And have been taught
That if God reigns
I cannot
Frank once said
It was my way
Living his life
As he would say
But that’s not true
Nor can it be
For God did not
Man's will make free
Our path was set
Before our time
To serve a purpose
The Lord defined
He made us
That we should learn
The path to life
That we can't earn
So I’m at pains
To speak my mind
And share this truth
To me confined
Man is nothing
Dust in the wind
Fit for death
Because of sin
But when all seemed lost
And death held sway
Christ came down
And did it God’s way.
