Gone But Not Forever
Gone but not forever
A brother you are to me
Through life and death together
We have one destiny
As kids we shared a moment
As adults a bit less time
And though you have departed
Our friendship stays entwined
Your battle may be over
But mine must still go on
Until the Lord's decided
That my work here is done
Alone in this your shadow
I will maintain your light
And guard with all my own spirit
Your children from the night
He thought I would be broken
When Death took you away
But the Lord did not create me
To be easily dismayed
I make this vow before you
And lay it at your feet
That when my mourning's over
I'll rise from this defeat
Again I'll mount the ramparts
And proclaim the victory won
When I see Jesus coming
The Lord's begotten Son
Upon His fiery horses
Our God will leave His throne
To lead His angel armies
And ensure satan's doom
Oh death where is your triumph
Where did you leave your sting
For evil's been defeated
And all our hearts can sing
Free from all corruption
My brother you will rise
Together with your children
Our joy will fill the skies
No more will you be subject
To pain and grief again
Through Jesus Christ our Saviour
Our bond it shall remain
Gone but not forever
My brother we are one
Your banner will I carry
Until our reunion.
For Scott (Scotty) Alexander Cunningham,

My friend and my brother, now and always
Rest in peace.
